Ben Katz
I serve as a Protein Mass Spectrometrist in the Department of Chemistry's Core Facility at the University of California, Irvine, specializing in biotherapeutic analysis. With expertise in exact mass measurements, my primary focus is on analyzing intact biomolecules using advanced ESI-QTOF instrumentation.
My expertise enables the characterization of peptides, proteins, and other biotherapeutics, with a particular emphasis on unique conjugation chemistry, post-translational modifications, and structural variants. I provide in-depth analysis of Drug-to-Antibody Ratio (DAR) distribution, conjugation efficiency, and site-specific conjugation mapping, supporting the development of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other bioconjugate therapeutics.
In my role, I utilize electrospray instruments equipped with in-line UPLC's for automated high-throughput screening of biological samples, facilitating efficient analysis and supporting the optimization of biotherapeutic development, from early-stage research to manufacturing.
